WiMax II™
Ease Complexity
For more complex and demanding setups, WiMaX II™ provides the most efficient solution to your filament winding needs. Complete backward compatibility with all of Entec’s previous control systems has been maintained. The WiMaX II™ controller provides advanced servo control using DSP technology. The controller runs on a PC platform, providing both low cost and easy extensibility. It is now based on 32-bit code, so it is supported on the latest Microsoft operating systems (Windows 9x, 2000, XP). It has a programmable control panel interface making upgrading from other control systems easy and cost effective.
The standard WiMaX II™ will handle up to eight servo-controlled axes; more servo-controlled axes are available as an option. WiMaX II™ uses Entec’s extended Machine Control Language (MCL) for backward compatibility. The controller provides complete support for Entec’s or other manufacturers’ tension devices. The display can be configured, patterns selected, tensioners adjusted and the machine run from a rugged industrial control panel, eliminating resin contamination of a keyboard or trackball. WiMaX II™ also provides programmable analog and digital inputs and outputs, controllable from both winding patterns and PLC routines. WiMaX II™ also delivers advanced features such as a pattern reverse feature, on-screen pattern scrolling, power fail recovery, programmable event logging, unlimited pattern lengths, networking, manual hoop winding and two types of PLC emulation. In addition, start-up and operation modes are programmable to meet your needs.
WiMaX II™ comes packaged in an industrial NEMA 12 enclosure with a heat exchanger for cooling. An air conditioner is optionally available for extremely harsh environments. Models are available with either a standard PC or an industrial PC. The system keyboard and pointing device (mouse, trackball or touchpad) are protected in a lockable enclosure. All operator controls are industrially rated for maximum resin and solvent immunity.
Complete Process Control
WiMaX II™ offers a new standard of winding process integration. Auxiliary functions and related processes can be controlled in conjunction with the filament winder. WiMaX II™ is a giant step toward fully automated composite part fabrication. It runs FiberGrafiX™ patterns directly, and now includes pattern reverse functions. Also included are precise fiber placement features, extensive data logging, programmable digital input and outputs, a convenient interface with tension devices and 8 programmable servo axes standard, with more available.
Easy to Use
WiMaX II™ provides a simple yet comprehensive interface for the operator. The function buttons eliminate the need for the operator keyboard and trackball, removing a source of maintenance problems. The function buttons provide a menu-driven interface for the operator. All machine functions can be controlled from the operator panel, giving the operator complete manual control over the winding process, if desired. The color CRT screen provides a wealth of information about the winding process. Additionally, WiMaX II™ offers programmable operator messages, selectable screen configurations, 6 function buttons with shift, programmed process plan capability and is completely operable from an industrial control panel.
Easy to Program
WiMaX II™ provides a complete programming language for pattern generation. No more dealing with obscure machine language programming. WiMaX II™ commands are written in simple English. Patterns can be created using FiberGrafiX™ or your own application programs. Patterns can be modified using any text editor (including the editors provided with DOS and Windows). Other programming features include on/off output control, operator messages, built-in manual hoop winding, hierarchical directory structure, tension control, axes unit control, support for an unlimited number of files, data logging, nestable circuit counters, axes limit control, feed rate and machine speed control and axis scale and zero control. |
